Rather than bogging you down with lengthy descriptions and modifiers, we’ll let the photos of Bastone’s new summer lunch menu do most of the talking.
Gazpacho is a traditional summer soup. Served cold, it is chock full of fresh veggies and topped with lime sour cream. Large enough for a light lunch or an appetizer for two.
Curried Vegetable Wrap is an Indian influenced vegetarian option. Seasonal grilled vegetables in curry cream sauce blanketed by naan. The cream sauce is not heavy, but rather adds a luscious spiciness to the veggies.
Steak Tip Baguette is the most substantial sandwich of the group. A rich dijon hollandaise and onion marmalade blanket tender chunks of filet mignon giving sweet, tangy, and beefy flavors in every bite. Don’t forget about those pommes frites and the superb artichoke mayonnaise (for the frites not the sandwich – trust me).
Summer Ahi Salad is the lightest dish of the group, aside from the gazpacho. As you can plainly see, the tuna is expertly seared with a bright herbed crust. The berries and greens are impeccably fresh and the candied pecans are addictive.
BBQ Chicken Sandwich is slathered in Jack Daniels Honey BBQ sauce topped with applewood smoked bacon and aged cheddar. Served on a pretzel roll, this is a game time sandwich. Perfect for Thursday afternoon Detroit Tiger home games with a pint of Weizenbock.
Lobster Club Sandwich tastes like it should be ultra expensive. Chunks of sweet lobster, onions, and almonds mixed with dill mayonnaise and topped with bacon are stuffed into Cuban bread. This extravagant sandwich pairs well with a Saison, a slightly tart Summer beer.
