It seems American’s love their hamburgers. Going back to 2003, we consumed over 1.3 Billion burgers, and today the estimation is well over 2 Billion per year. It’s said that the hamburger really made its mark during the great depression when times were tough and burgers were a tasty, affordable meal. Today, there are so many hamburger chains offering their own version of the burger, you could literally eat a different kind of burger each day and not duplicate the taste and toppings for quite some time.
Earlier this week we were invited to sample several menu items at Burgrz in Royal Oak. Not knowing what to expect, we walked away very full and pleasantly surprised. The star of the day was the Bleu Cheese Burger which comes with a generous amount of bleu cheese, contrasted with a nice crunchy pile of onion straws. The steak sauce adds a richness that balances well with the pungent bleu cheese.
In addition to several burger options, Burgrz offers a few salads for those looking to eat a little healthier. We sampled the Cobb Salad with Chicken and like all good cobb salads, the ingredients were very fresh.
If you’re going to eat a burger, you probably want something to accompany your meal and at Burgrz, there are a few options to choose from between their large basket of onion rings to their waffle fries with or without chili cheese. (We recommend the chili cheese fries, they are really good)
We found the menu to be expansive enough for anyone looking for a good burger, salad, or delicious shake. They have add on options from: egg, avocado, bacon, and sautéed mushrooms as well as a variety of toppings ranging from: pineapple, zip sauce, jalapeno peppers and much more. Burgrz also offers Turkey, Boca, Veggie, or Chicken Burgers and for those concerned about gluten-free options, they can take care of your needs there too. Kids can choose from hotdogs or a chicken finger basket should a burger not suit their needs. The food is affordable and it’s evident they care about pleasing their customers.
