For the first time, Saint Clair Shores and its renowned Nautical Mile will present Restaurant Week from August 12-21. For the reasonable price of $20, diners will choose from menus offering three courses – appetizer, entree and dessert (alcohol and gratuity not included). The most fascinating thing about the Nautical Mile is every restaurant has a completely different culinary point of view; from Saganaki to guacamole to tabbouleh, a little bit of everything will be offered to diners visiting the picturesque Nautical Mile. Bibs on, sails up and anchors away!

Loukoumades: a classic Greek dessert

The legendary Greektown restaurant has been on the east side for about a year now. If you have any doubt about the food, rest assured that the recipes are exactly the same. For restaurant week, the focus is on classics (saganaki, greek salad, baklava) and some dishes that might be off the radar. For example, Arnaki Tis Skaras is lamb marinated in olive oil and Greek spices and char grilled. An oft overlooked dish, the lamb is tender and full flavored, different from shish kabob, but definitely worth a try. Don’t miss out on the loukoumades, fritters dipped in hot honey and topped with walnuts and cinnamon. On your first bite, you’ll notice a floral sweetness from the honey followed by nutty crunch. As simple as it sounds, loukoumades are definitely memorable.
