Had a chance to check out Chef Jeremy Kalmus’ brunch menu at Local Kitchen and Bar. The dishes range from bacon & eggs to more ethnically driven dishes like chilaquiles and shakshuka. There are also hand crafted cocktails, good selection of draught beer, and great coffee. Attention is paid to gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan customers with clearly marked menu items.
I was happy with everything. From having Jolly Pumpkin‘s iO Saison on tap to the stellar service to the excellent food. Local’s brunch game is on point.
Also, while not necessarily a brunch item, the poutine is something special. Kalmus’ version is hand cut fries, veal demi-glace, and cheese curds. The demi-glace is out of this world and adds such a deep richness to the dish.
Local Kitchen and Bar serves brunch on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
