Royal Oak Wine Stroll

The 7th annual Royal Oak wine stroll has come and gone and for those that weren’t able to make it out, we have a recap just for you. The weather, which was touch and go most of the day turned out nice, no rain and perfect walking temperature.

The Wine Stroll offered patrons the opportunity to sample a variety of wines and signature dishes from more than 19 participating restaurants and retailers. There was a significant amount of pasta dishes accompanying several white wine selections compared to previous years.

Participating restaurant locations included: Andiamo Royal Oak, BlackFinn, D’Amato’s, Lily’s Seafood Grill & Brewery, Oak City Grille, O’Tooles, Oxford Inn, Pronto!, Rock on Third, Tom’s Oyster Bar, Vinotecca and Woody’s Diner.

Participating retail locations included: 5th & Fringe Salon & Spa, Chozen by BC, Cloverleaf Fine Wine, Creative Arts Studio, Lift Designer Toys & Gallery, Stella Boutique and Vintner’s Cellar of Royal Oak.

While this is clearly a wine event, we were interested in covering the food pairings more than the wine (wine in a glass typically looks the same), and when possible we tried to share a picture of the pairings together. Without further ado:

Andiamo: Seasoned Italian risotto filled with fresh mozzarella & topped tomato sauce. Andiamo Shakin Pizza paired with Nero d’Avola Pinot Grigio

D’Amatos: Pasta Aglio Olio with garlic, fresh herbs, extra virgin olive oil, and aged parmesan paired with Terra Andina Pinot Noir

Lily’s: Smoked Salmon Canapes paired with Montpellier Viognier

Pronto: Pasta of some sort. Wasn’t listed properly in the program paired with Stella Pinot Grigio

Oak City Grille: Cajun chicken sausage tortellini paired with Angove Red Belly Black Shiraz

O’Tooles: Fried cheese cubes with fresh fruit paired with Leese Fitch Pinot Noir

Creative Art Studio: Swedish Meatballs paired with Della Scala pinot Grigio

BlackFinn American Saloon: Sweet & Spicy shrimp, lightly battered paired with Oak Grove Cabernet Sauvignon

Vinotecca: Asian steak wraps with bibb lettuce, grilled steak, roasted bell peppers with a chili soy glaze paired with Primissimo – a Sangiovese and Merlot Blend

Rock on Third: Assorted pastas with bolognese sauce paired with The Velvet Devil Merot

Vintner’s Cellar: Cheese and crackers paired with Black Currant Merlot

Oxford Inn: Barbecue pork sliders paired with Chateau Grand Traverse Reisling

That about covers the wine stroll, hope you enjoyed our review. Not all venues were represented as many pasta dishes looked the same. If you’ve never participated in the Royal Oak Wine Stroll, we highly recommend you check it out. Support your local establishments and sample some of the best dishes and wine that Royal Oak has to offer.
