220 Restaurant is a Birmingham institution and Chef Luis Reyes is timeless. Chef Reyes is a rare breed nowadays – a chef who has remained in the same place for over a decade (14 years to be precise). He has the same gusto and fascination with food that he did back then – maybe more.
With a menu that changes often, Reyes is able to experiment often and also stick to the classics his customers know and love. His weekly risotto has become quite popular and even gives him an opportunity to dabble in vegetarian and vegan cuisine from time to time.
For 220′s Garden Party dish, Chef Reyes will prepare a Jumbo Lump Crab & Avocado bruschetta with citrus aioli; garnished with micro greens & pink grapefruit.
A pleasantly refreshing combination of flavors and textures, Reyes’ bruschetta is quite simply a wonderful bite of food. Creamy avocado, sweet crab meat, and piquant grapefruit are harmonious together. Grilled baguette is an essential textural addition and adds to the overall substantiveness of the bite.
